Realtime Remote Obstetric Emergency Mentorship
Support our mission through donations and volunteering.
Mama Care Africa has entered a groundbreaking partnership with UCLA University, Vutix and Ohana One and Africa University to pioneer the use of augmented reality (AR) glasses in obstetric care—a first of its kind in maternal health across Africa:
- Through this collaboration, we will equip doctors stationed in rural areas with AR glasses that allow real-time, remote mentorship by senior obstetricians across the globe.
- In many underserved clinics, general practitioners often lack specialized obstetric training, putting mothers at risk during emergencies. Africa has just one obstetrician for every 100,000 people, compared to 36.2 per 100,000 in developed countries. By utilizing augmented reality technology, we empower healthcare providers to consult specialists in real time, improving emergency outcomes.
