ABOUT US

Executive Summary

Mama Care Africa (MCA) is a nonprofit organization committed to addressing the urgent need for improved maternal healthcare in Africa. Our comprehensive approach focuses on increasing access to quality services, strengthening healthcare systems, empowering women and communities, and providing sustainable solutions for maternal and child health

Our Mission

Mama Care Africa is dedicated to improving maternal health outcomes across Africa by reducing maternal mortality and morbidity through comprehensive health education, access to quality healthcare, and community improvement.

The Challenge

Africa has the highest mortality rate in the world, with approximately 200,000 women dying each year from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. Factors contributing to this crisis include inadequate healthcare infrastructure, lack of trained professionals, cultural barriers, and limited access to reproductive health services. The MCA was established in response to this urgent need and is committed to transforming maternal healthcare in underserved communities.

Our Programs

Through our key programs and services, we have made significant strides in reducing maternal rates, increasing access to quality care, and empowering healthcare providers and communities

Community Engagement/Education

Our community outreach initiatives raise awareness on the dangers of Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH), educating both the public and healthcare providers on risk factors, prevention strategies, and the significance of the red bracelet system.

Capacity Building Initiative

Through our Train the Trainer (TtT) initiatives, we collaborate with local hospitals, clinics, and community midwives to implement training programs that emphasize the importance of recognizing the red bracelet and responding effectively to the needs of the wearer. In addition, we conduct comprehensive training sessions for healthcare providers on prevention, early detection, and timely management, using uterotonics, and the use of low-cost sustainable interventions and emergency protocols.

Centering Pregnancy

We aim to provide low-cost, heat-resistant uterotonics which are vital in managing PPH effectively. We partner with local health authorities to assess the needs of healthcare facilities and distribute essential medical supplies to ensure they are equipped to manage PPH effectively. By ensuring that healthcare facilities are stocked with these life-saving interventions, we can significantly improve the chances of survival and recovery for mothers experiencing postpartum complications.
